head cold

So Camilla has her second head cold. Her temperament is fine, which is good. But she is so congested! I have suctioned her nose dozens of times, especially before nursing so she can breathe. Probably contracted it from daycare, which makes me feel bad. I guess it could be worse(H1N1)! I have also contracted her cold, but I figure it is a good thing because my body can make antibodies and pass them to her in the breast milk.
Of course babies can't take medicine for symptom relief(nor can nursing moms). So we have the humidifier going and I am going to ask the pediatrician about saline drops( saw Little remedies add in Parenting magazine)

4 months old

Camilla is 4 months old today! I can't believe how big she is.
We still have her sleeping in our room. I think we are finding reasons to keep her right next to us. Tonight is the night( so I have said for 2 weeks now!). If we don't transition her soon she might still be in our room when she is 10! I really don't want that, I want her to be independent. So tonight is the night...? Yes, I swear!
Bumper or no bumper is my concern right now. Supposedly a SIDS risk? I have worried myself sick about SIDS(and H1N1).Sometimes I wonder how the human race continues with all the viruses and bacteria out there. But really I have too much all ready to think/worry about!

Thanksgiving day was very nice. So good to finally introduce my family to Camilla(my fear of H1N1 has kept us isolated). I hope everyone understands and appreciates my concern for Camilla's well being.

Week 16 - starting daycare

Camilla is getting so strong, holding her head up and grabbing at things. It is amazing how much she has grown in just 16 weeks.
She is trying to put things in her mouth, so we will have to be very careful!
She pulls on my hair now as I carry her around.
I started work back this week which means Camilla started daycare. It was so hard leaving her. I thought about her every minute until I picked her back up.
I think she is adjusting well to the sitter. She seem to like her and she likes watching the other kids. At first she cried but now she watches them in amazement. I guess she doesn't let one of the sitter's daughters hold her. The sitter has 2 daughters that help her and Camilla just won't let one of them hold her! I don't know?
She is so chubby! Her little thighs are huge!
We plan to transition her to her crib this weekend, it will probably be hardest on me!

week 15

Camilla is sleeping very well at night, going to sleep by 10 pm and getting up around 5:30 am to eat, then going back to sleep until about 9am.
Still talking a lot. It is so cute how she looks right at me and talks as if I can understand her perfectly.
At night she sits with Paul and watches ESPN. So cute, maybe she will be as much of a Notre Dame fan as he is.

week 14

A lot of the same from last week, although she seems to have found her voice. She "talks" all the time, clearly take after her Aunt Angie. She also is using her lungs quit well to yell! Yes, she can be very loud! It is pretty funny.
Her fingers are always in her mouth and she gags herself all the time!
Taking walks in the stroller in the afternoon, because it is a little chilly now in the mornings.
Loving our time together!

Week 13

During tummy time she rolled over to her back! She was so surprised!
She did it twice!

So athletic!

She is also sleeping 9 to 10 hours at night! I feel human again!:)
Napping in her crib during the day usually no more than about 30 minutes at a time.
She is starting to suck on just a finger at a time, easier I guess then the whole fist!

Week 12

Lots of the same...
We are just really enjoying her!

Week 11

She is still working on sitting up.
She follows me around the room with her eyes and will look in my direction when I call to her.
She can now grab at the toys dangling from the bouncy chair.
She will sit in the bouncy chair and entertain herself for about 45 minutes letting me run on the treadmill.
She will fall asleep on her own sometimes. I have been trying to get her to nap in her crib to get used to it. She doesn't nap very long, maybe 40 minutes. Oh well, at least she is sleeping 8 hours at night!
She has also started to put things in her mouth - here go!
She trys to sit up and lean over to look at her feet, so funny! She is really fascinated by her hands and feet, spending much time studying them over!

Week 10

Camilla is starting to try to sit up.
She laughs to herself, so cuute!
She really likes to suck on her hands!
Thankfully back to sleep 7 hours at night. That smile when I pick her up is so sweet! I will lean over until she notices me, and when she does her face just lights up!
Finally got the car seat converter for the jog stroller. It is so much fun to take her running.

Week 9

I have noticed Camilla sitting for longer periods in her bouncy chair entertaining herself.
The set back in sleeping has continued.
First road trip. So nice to introduce her to Paul's family.

Week 8

Camilla is cooing a lot talking to us. I wonder what she is saying! Smiling all the time.
A set back in sleeping at night, oh no!! She just sleeps for about 4 hours and then gets up to eat and then goes back down for about 2 hours.
2 month check up. She is doing great, getting very big! Shots were sad, even I cried!

week 7

Camilla now smiles when I lean over to pick her up out of bed. Makes it worth getting up at 3 am seeing that grin just for me!
She is still in our room, the pediatrician said ideally babies should go to their own room at 6 to 8 weeks. But I like having her in my room so I can watch her.
She is starting to laugh and coo even more.
She is sleeping 5 to 6 hours getting up to eat and then going back to sleep for another 2 hours.
She will entertain herself in her bouncy chair for about 10 minutes before crying. Not long but progress. She will bat at the dangly things on her bouncy chair.
She looks around a lot taking in the world.

Week 6

Camilla is now sleeping 4 even 5 hours at night. Just when I thought I would not make it, who new you could function on so little sleep! I can't believe I think 4 to 5 hours is a lot of sleep!! One night she even slept 7 hours! She is cooing more and I think her smiles might be for real now. She is spending more time awake during the day. She can follow objects with her eyes.
Paul's parents came for the weekend, I was glad they were able to make the trip.

Week 5

Camilla has discovered her fingers and they apparently taste very good!
She is still sleeping from 11p to 2:30 ish.She is still scouting around in bed from top to bottom and side to side. She seems to have straightened out her day/night confusion. Thank goodness that was hard on the parents! The nights where i would rock at 3 am! Yikes! She is lucky that she is so cute!
Mom came for the third weekend in a row - a real blessing.

Week 4

Camilla is still eating and sleeping a lot but is awake more during the day and sleeping from 11p to about 2am. She is following objects I dangle in front of her. It is very cute how she moves her eyes to follow. She is also following my voice as I talk to her. She is starting to coo, her first form of communication!
We have given up on the cradle and she is sleeping in her pack n play. She has started scouting on her back so that when I go to pick her up out of bed she is not in the same position I placed her. Very cute, we are so impressed with her talent!
Mom has come again to spend the weekend(again, soooo much help)
1 month check went well, she is growing!

Week 3

Pretty much the same from week 2. Eating every 2 hours. This week though I am so tired, tired like I could never imagine. Why did my friends not mention this part?! I call my mom crying asking her to come help. Of course she comes and stays all weekend(why didn't I call her sooner!) I finally get some sleep, my mom(grandma) has a magic touch with babies(take note Angela).
Forgot to mention that Camilla got off the bille(sp?) blanket on day 7. Her levels started coming down after peaking. She was fine just wanted to be on the safe side.
I have had some visitors which I really appreciate, but I must sleep whenever I can so no more for a while. Sleep when the baby sleeps someone said.......

By the way, even with extreme exhaustion - I love her! I do! Thank you Paul (husband, daddy) my best gift ever!

Week 2

Camilla is still eating every 2 hours and very well! The nurse at the hospital last week said she is a good latcher (breastfeeding term).
She seems to cry more at night, which is tough on mom.
Paul had to go back to work, it was so nice the first week just the three of us.

week one - here we go!

Camilla is sleeping a lot! Eating consistently every 2 hours around the clock. Mommy is very tired! Although we have a wonderful organic ( translate expensive!) mattress for the cradle, she doesn't like it. I don't know if it is the cradle or that she doesn't like to lay flat on her back. I guess she has been curled up into a ball for 9 months!
We try very hard to keep the bille(sp?) blanket for her jaundice on her at all times.
